In this article, we'll walk through the various components of an E-blast template and show you how to build templates for your organization in the E-blast Template Builder that you can use to create E-blasts to send newsletters, fundraising appeals and other messages to your contacts.

How to Customize Your E-blast - Training Video 2
In this section we'll review the different Sections that make up your E-blast Template.
An E-blast template has 3 sections - Header, Body and Footer. Typically the Header will contain your organization's logo, the Body will contain the content of the message, and the Footer will contain your organization's contact information.
To build your template, you'll drag and drop Rows into these sections, and then add Content blocks within the rows to hold text, images and more.
In this section we'll review the Layout tools available for building your E-blast template.
Rows help you define a space for your Content. You can choose from several styles of rows with 1, 2 or 3 columns. You will need to add Rows to your template before you can add Content.
To add a Row to your template, click on a Row from the "Add a row" area and drag and drop it into the Header, Body or Footer section of your template. You can add multiple rows to each section.
Content blocks can be used to add text, images and other types of information to your message. Once your Rows are in place, you can start adding Content blocks.
Adding Content blocks
To add a Content block to your template, click on a Content Block from the "Drop content blocks" area and drag and drop it into a Row on your template. You can add 1 block per content area on your Rows (maximum 3 Content blocks per Row).
Types of Content blocks
In this section we'll explore different types of content blocks that are available, and the settings you can use to customize each one.
Use the Text or Boxed Text blocks to add text to your message. Use the settings to adjust your font styles, add links, set line spacing and choose a background color.
Tip: Use Smart Codes to personalize your messages with information stored in your Keela CRM Contacts, such as "First Name" for a salutation.
Use the Image, Image Card or Image Caption blocks to add images to your message (with or without text). Upload an image from your computer or the web, then add a border and set the alignment. You can also resize your image and adjust margins.
Use the Websites block to add icon and links to your websites and social media profiles (such as Facebook and Twitter). Use the settings to adjust background color, borders, font styles and alignment.
Use the Footer block to create a pre-formatted text block with your organization's contact information, so your contacts can easily see who sent the message. Use the settings to adjust font styles, line spacing and background color.
Use the Divider block to create a divider line to separate your content areas. Use the settings to adjust padding, border style and colors.
Use the Button block to create a button that your contact can use to visit a Keela Form (e.g. to make a donation). You can also create a custom button to link anywhere on the web. Use the settings to adjust the button text, color, border, font styles, padding, alignment and width.
Note: To link your button to a Keela Form, be sure to create the Form first.
Use the Video block to create a link to a video hosted on the web. Upload a cover image for your video, then add a border and set the alignment. You can also resize your video and adjust margins.
Note: Clicking on a video will open the video link in the browser. Videos will not play inside the message, as this is not supported by email systems.
Please also ensure your code does not contain the following text at the beginning, or you may receive an error when sending the E-Blast:
<!doctype html> // (not case sensitive)
Note: Not all code will render the same in all email systems. If you are using custom code, we recommend testing how your code appears in multiple email systems (e.g. Outlook, Gmail) before sending to your contacts.
In this section, we'll review the Settings available for adjusting your E-blast template.
Layout Width Style
Here, you can choose from a Full Width layout which fills the entire email body, or a Boxed layout which fills only the center content area.
Header, Body and Footer
Using these settings, you can adjust the padding and background colors of the template sections. You can also adjust padding by dragging the section handles.
Note: To see your background colors on the template, you must either apply the Full Width layout or add padding.
Finishing up your Template
Once you're done creating your template, you can finish using the following options in the bottom-right corner:
Clicking on Preview will display a preview of how the template will appear.
Note: Each email system (such as Gmail and Outlook) will interpret the template code differently, so previews may not appear exactly the same the finished E-blast once sent.
Clicking on Save will save this template to your "Personal Templates". These templates will appear for you to choose from when you Create an E-blast.
Clicking on Finish will close the template editing window. You'll be prompted to Save the template, or close without saving.
