We know how important it is to acknowledge where your donations come from, particularly from major donors and contributors. That's why we've included a soft credit feature that allows you to link a donation made by a donor to the person who helped bring that money to your organization.
Soft Crediting Donations
In the sections below, we'll explain what a soft credit is and how you can soft credit a donation.
What is a soft credit?
A soft credit donor is someone that your organization choose to recognize as "responsible" for a donation, without actually controlling the money or contribution itself.
They provide another way to understand the value of your supporters' relationships by creating linkages between the person who helped bring in the donation and the donor who made the contribution.
Soft credits can only be entered when manually logging a donation.
How do I soft credit a donation?
Soft credits can be applied when logging a donation. You will need to have both the donor and the person being soft credited as contacts in Keela.
When filling out the donation information, in the Soft Credit field, simply type in the name of the person being credited. Fill out any remaining information for the donation, and click 'Save'.
If you later open the donation record, you will see a link to the credited person's contact profile.
Under the credited person's Donations tab, you will see an entry that corresponds with the amount that was contributed by the donor.
