We know that tax receipting for recurring donors can be cumbersome, especially when tax season rolls around. Allowing donors to contribute online helps save time and work, but it can be difficult for them (and you) to keep track of receipts for recurring donations.
We wanted to provide organizations and their donors another level of choice when it comes to donation tax receipting for recurring donations. That's why we've created an option to allow new recurring donors to choose between individual receipts or a single cumulative receipt at year-end for their donations.
About Online Cumulative Donation Receipts
For donations made online using Keela, tax receipts are (by default) generated automatically, logged in your contact database, and sent to the donor by email. While this may be a practical solution for one-time or periodic donors, recurring donors who contribute the same amount every month often prefer to receive a single receipt at the end of the year.
With our online cumulative donation receipt feature, you can opt to give your recurring donors the ability to choose between individual receipts for each recurring donation they make, or a single cumulative donation receipt at the end of a year.
By following the steps below, you can enable this option for donors who contribute to your organization via your online donation page.
Using the Online Cumulative Donation Receipt Option
When using the online cumulative donation receipt option, keep a few things in mind:
a) Organizations can choose to enable this option for any donation form. It can be a normal donation form or one associated with a campaign.
b) This feature is only available to donors who make new recurring donations online. Want to create a cumulative receipt for existing, manually-created donation? Learn about Manual Cumulative Donation Receipts.
c) Recurring donations on year-end receipts span only one calendar year.
Enable Cumulative Receipting for Online Recurring Donations
You can enable the option for cumulative receipting for online recurring donations at any time by following the steps below.
Open form designer for a donation form
Navigate to "Organization Settings" by clicking on the drop-down menu in the top-right corner of Keela. Next, select the "Forms" tab.
Select the form you want to edit, and open the "Design & Share" tab. Click on "Open Form Designer" to open the form editor.
Turn On Online Cumulative Receipt Option
Click "Donation Settings" to open your settings.
Check the box next to "Allow donors to choose cumulative receipt", and click "Save".
