We know how important your project team is in getting things done right and on time. That's why we've provided different options for communicating with your team -- but how do you know which tool is the correct one to use?
Our Discussion and Comment tools can be very valuable when collaborating on a project, and we want to make sure that you can always get your message and files to the people you need to.
Project Discussions vs. Task Comments
When you open up a Project, there are three tabs that appear in the top-centre of the page:
- Tasks,
- Discussion,
- Files
Task Comments
Task comments are relevant specifically to that one task. This is a good way to communicate progress or updates about a task without messaging all project members and to ensure that the person responsible for the task receives the information they need.
When you open a task to comment, what you write stays only with that task. The content of your messages go to the task assignee and any of its followers.
The comments that you and other project members make will remain visible on the task page. Any files that you attach will be visible on the task's main page under 'Attachments', below the task description, and on the Files tab of the project.
Discussions
Discussions are comments that relate to the entire project. Send a quick message to all your project members, share a document, or just check in with your team.
When you open a project and start or comment on a conversation under the 'Discussion' tab, your message goes out to all the project members.
Any attachments that you share as part of your discussion will appear in your discussion area, as well as under the Files tab of your project.
